MICHAEL YATES

Michael Yates is a painter. Colour dominates Michael’s works whether it be Acrylic or Oil on Canvas or bright primaries on metal – the colour jumps out at you. The colours welcome you and draw you in.
                     
Currently some of his works are based on the colour shifts in Opals with changes in light using Acrylic & soft French Oil Pastel.

Generally Michael tends to work quickly not letting his thoughts get too much in the way of his emotional input. With a motto “variety is the spice of life”, this is reflected in a diverse range of subjects & styles.

He also enjoys participating in workshops with different teachers – “One sees many Interesting approaches to art & I realy enjoy meeting all the varied people who have this common interest”

Born in Sydney, Michael started drawing in primary school with coloured pencils – jaguars, horses, planes & cars.  With over 35 years in business & travelling overseas to diverse countries, he has many fantastic visions & memories to work from with in his artworks.

In recent years, Michael has pursued his art with a passion completing certificate courses in visual arts. He furthers his studies at the Sydney Gallery School, now also incorporating sculpture & photography.

Michael exhibits regularly in galleries and shows in Sydney.
