CHARMAINE KUMAR

My art comes from the need to draw and paint. Colour plays an important role in my life and carries through into my work. Robert Rauschenberg summed it up with “Art is about colour and line, figurative and abstract. Shapes of the human form juxtaposed – movement rather than stable shapes. Some lines accidental but mostly purposefully accidental”.

Born and brought up in Sri Lanka . Lived in Melbourne , Hong Kong , Taiwan and Sydney . Associate Diploma of Fine Arts covered- painting, drawing-traditional, drawing-experimental, sculpture, photography, design, printmaking and art theory. Living and traveling overseas helped built a rich tapestry of inspiration.
